E-commerce Shopping Sees Surge in Digital Wallet Usage

A survey by the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) in collaboration with Kredivo shows that digital wallets or e-wallets are the most preferred digital payment method for e-commerce. In the last year, 65% of respondents chose to use e-wallets for online shopping.

51% of respondents chose bank transfers or virtual accounts as a payment method on e-commerce platforms. Furthermore, 39% of respondents chose payment through minimarkets when shopping online.

27% of respondents opted for installment payment features without a card (paylater) when shopping on e-commerce platforms. 11% of respondents used debit cards for e-commerce purchases.

6% of respondents used credit cards for e-commerce shopping. Meanwhile, 1% of respondents chose other digital payment methods.

This online survey was conducted among 3,560 respondents across Indonesia from March 26-30, 2021.
