PayLater Increasingly Popular: Most Consumers Have Used PayLater for Over a Year

The "pay later" feature, also known as *paylater*, is one of the most widely used digital payment methods for e-commerce transactions in Indonesia. According to a survey by the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) and Kredivo, *paylater* ranks third in usage, after e-wallets and bank transfers/virtual accounts.

The survey also shows that the majority, or more than half, of e-commerce consumers in Indonesia have used *paylater* for over a year, representing 56% of respondents.

Furthermore, 21% of respondents have used *paylater* for e-commerce transactions for 6-12 months, while 14% have used it for the past 3-6 months.

Meanwhile, 9% of respondents stated they have only been using *paylater* for less than 3 months.

Several reasons explain why Indonesian consumers choose *paylater* for e-commerce transactions, including urgent needs, short-term installment purchases, attractive promotions, managing monthly expenses, purchasing non-essential items, and simply trying it out.

This survey involved 3,500 Kredivo users across Indonesia who conduct transactions on Blibli.com, Bukalapak, JD.ID, Lazada, and Tokopedia. The online survey was conducted in March 2022.
