Top 10 Most Popular App Categories Based on Google Search Volume

The presence of apps on smartphones assists human activities, ranging from accessing information and engaging in economic activities to seeking entertainment.

Quoting *Business of Apps*, online dating apps are currently the most popular. The average monthly Google searches for online dating apps between October 2021 and March 2022 totaled 450,000.

The number of online dating app users continues to grow year on year. By 2021, the number of users reached 323.9 million worldwide.

Stock trading apps are currently the second most popular category, with an average of 246,000 Google searches per month. This coincides with the increasing interest in trading, particularly among Gen Z and millennials.

The average number of searches for stock trading apps is equal to that of video editing apps, which rank third. Following these are gaming, music, and photography apps, each averaging 135,000 searches per month.

Furthermore, video and weather apps are also among the most searched. Both averaged 110,000 Google searches per month during the period of October 2021 to March 2022.
