Several global technology companies are reportedly conducting mass layoffs (PHK) at the beginning of 2024.
According to *CNBC*, global tech giants rumored to be cutting their workforce include TikTok, Google, eBay, Instagram, and Discord.
TikTok will lay off 60 employees. The company has confirmed the news.
"They may apply for any open internal positions; currently, there are over 120 similar positions posted," said a TikTok spokesperson, as quoted by CNBC Indonesia from CNBC International.
Meanwhile, Google is reportedly laying off 1,000 employees from its engineering division. eBay is also reportedly laying off a similar number. In addition, YouTube, a company under the same parent company as Google, is also rumored to be laying off 100 employees.

This wave of layoffs adds to the long list of layoffs in the global technology industry.
According to Layoffs.fyi, global technology company layoffs reached 11,823 people in January 2024. 67 companies conducted layoffs.
The number of layoffs in January 2024 surged approximately 65.14% from December 2023, which saw 7,159 layoffs. 56 companies conducted layoffs in December.
Over the past year, the highest number of layoffs occurred in January 2023, with 89,709 employees laid off. 277 companies conducted layoffs during that period.
The lowest number of layoffs occurred in September 2023, with 4,707 people laid off. 69 companies conducted layoffs.
