How Often Do Indonesian Citizens Change Their Baby's Diapers? This is the Survey

Diapers are an essential need for families with babies. Disposable diapers must be changed each time they are full.

According to the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI), diapers should be changed immediately after a baby urinates or defecates, and at most every 4 hours.

So, how often do Indonesian people change their babies' diapers in a day?

According to a survey conducted by Kurious-Katadata Insight Center (KIC), the majority, or 43% of respondents, stated that they change their baby's diaper three times a day.

Meanwhile, 20.6% of respondents change their baby's diaper twice a day.

Furthermore, 14.4% of respondents change their baby's diaper more than four times a day.

In addition, 3.2% of respondents stated that their child no longer uses diapers.

Kurious-KIC surveyed 599 respondents, with 54.8% male and 45.2% female respondents.

However, the survey on the frequency of diaper changes per day involved 277 respondents who have children under the age of 5.

The majority of respondents were from Java (excluding Jakarta), at 64.6%. This was followed by respondents from DKI Jakarta (15.9%), and Sumatra (11.2%).

Meanwhile, the proportion of respondents from Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali-Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku-Papua ranged from 3.3% to 0.2%.

Most respondents were aged between 35-44 years (35.2%), followed by the 25-34 age group (29.5%), and the 45-54 age group (21%).

The survey was conducted from July 18-26, 2023, using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method, with a margin of error of approximately 4% and a 95% confidence level.
