According to a survey by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), social media is the most frequently accessed internet content by Indonesian citizens. A recorded 89.15% of respondents accessed social media content in 2021-2022.

Facebook was the most frequently accessed social media platform, with 68.36% of respondents using it. YouTube was also popular, with 63.02% of respondents accessing it.

Online chatting applications were the most frequently used internet content overall, with 73.86% of respondents using them while online.

Furthermore, 21.26% of respondents frequently used the internet for online shopping, while 14.23% used it for online gaming.

Another 11.98% of respondents used the internet to access news portals, infotainment, or gossip websites. 9.27% most frequently used the internet for online transportation applications.

The percentage of respondents using the internet for online music applications was 8.49%, while 7.23% accessed the internet to check their email.

APJII conducted the survey on 7,568 respondents using probability sampling with multistage random sampling. The survey was conducted from January 11 to February 24, 2022.

Quality control of the sample was conducted randomly on 30% of the total sample. The margin of error is 1.13% with a 95% confidence level.
