Indonesia's Highest-Earning Esports Athlete Reaches Rp7.6 Billion

Esports, electronic sports utilizing video games, is recognized by the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) and the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) as a field contributing significantly to national achievements.

According to Esports Earnings data, Rafli Fathur Rahman, known by his account name Mikoto, is recorded as the highest-earning esports athlete in Indonesia as of August 2023.

This year alone, the professional DOTA 2 player has earned US$504,670.18, approximately Rp7.6 billion (assuming Rp15,220 per US$).

Mikoto currently plays with the international esports team Talon Esports. He earned this income from 46 tournaments he participated in.

Recently, Mikoto and Talon Esports secured third place in the international DOTA 2 Riyadh Master 2023 competition. His team took home a total prize of US$1.7 million, or approximately Rp25.8 billion.

Matthew Filemon, also known as Whitemon, ranks second as the highest-earning esports athlete in Indonesia.

Like Mikoto, Whitemon is also a DOTA 2 player. Whitemon plays for the American international team TSM, earning US$395,778.67, or around Rp6 billion.

Xepher follows in third place with total earnings of US$389,123.24, or approximately Rp5.9 billion.
