Indonesia's Information and Communication Technology Development Index (IP-TIK) recorded another increase in 2020. Its value reached 5.59, a rise of approximately 5% from the previous year's 5.32.
This increase was supported by the rise in each sub-index. For example, the access and infrastructure sub-index increased from 5.53 to 5.67. This sub-index includes the number of fixed and mobile phone subscribers, internet bandwidth, and the percentage of households with computers and internet access.
Furthermore, the usage sub-index rose by 10.1% to 5.34. Indicators within this sub-index include the percentage of individuals using the internet, as well as fixed broadband and mobile broadband subscribers.
The skills sub-index saw only a slight increase to 5.92. This sub-index calculates the average years of schooling for the population aged 15 and over, the gross secondary education participation rate, and the gross tertiary education participation rate.
The IP-TIK can be used as a standard to describe the level of ICT development in a region, the digital divide, and the potential for ICT development. Its value ranges from 0-10, with higher numbers indicating rapid development.
