The workforce skills training platform, Udemy Business, has compiled data on consumption or usage of skills in the field of marketing, including digital marketing. This consumption figure can be used as a parameter for skills needed by companies.

Udemy Business identified the top 10 marketing skills that surged in 2022. First, marketing strategy saw a 103% increase. Percentages are ranked based on the increase in consumption in the marketing field.

Second, blogging showed a 92% increase. Third, keyword research skills increased by 75%.

Fourth, retail business management skills increased by 57%. Fifth and sixth, marketing analysis and personal branding showed equal proportions, at 54%. The remaining skills are shown in the graph.

Udemy Business states that this research is necessary to rethink the fundamentals of marketing skills. Learners at the institution are highly focused on digital methods and channels to deliver and measure the effectiveness of their strategies.

"This makes perfect sense, given that 90% of marketers say their strategies have shifted almost entirely to digital since before the pandemic," Udemy Business wrote in its report.

This report analyzes data from thousands of Udemy Business customers worldwide. They calculated the total consumption of Udemy Business users across all course topics from July 1, 2021 to July 1, 2022.

Udemy Business also calculated and compared the percentage growth in consumption from July 1, 2020 to July 1, 2021.
