Google and YouTube Searches for Hair Care Soared in 2022: What Were People Searching For?

Many people seem driven to learn about hair care through the internet, particularly using platforms like Google and its associated services, such as YouTube.

Google recorded a trend of increased searches related to hair care activities throughout 2022.

First, "dry hair" searches increased by 70% year-on-year (YoY), as recorded on YouTube.

Second, "dandruff" searches increased by 60% on YouTube. Third, "hair spray" searches increased by 20% on Google.

Fourth, "keratin," a substance said to smooth the cells in hair follicles to prevent tangles, saw a 20% increase in Google searches.

Google believes that this search data allows industry players to understand not only changes in Indonesian consumer spending habits, but also how people work and perceive the future amidst rapidly changing economic conditions.
