Afghanistan Has the Slowest Mobile Internet Download Speeds in the World

Based on data from the *Digital 2022 Global Overview Report*, Afghanistan currently has the slowest internet network in the world.

Until November 2021, Afghanistan recorded a median mobile internet download speed of only 5.24 Megabits per second (Mbps). This figure is significantly below the global median mobile internet speed of 29.06 Mbps.

In the fixed broadband internet network category, Afghanistan also ranks last out of 180 countries. Afghanistan only has a fixed broadband download speed of 1.67 Mbps, far behind the global fixed broadband median of 58 Mbps.

Besides Afghanistan, countries with among the slowest internet speeds include Venezuela (5.76 Mbps), Tajikistan (7.57 Mbps), Ghana (8.09 Mbps), Sudan (8.74 Mbps), Ivory Coast (9.37 Mbps), Belarus (10.33 Mbps), Bangladesh (10.42 Mbps), and Haiti (10.66 Mbps).

Indonesia is not among the countries with the slowest internet speeds globally. However, according to the *Digital 2022 Global Overview Report*, until November 2021, Indonesia's mobile broadband download speed was only 15.82 Mbps, still considerably below the global median.
