Indonesia's E-commerce Market Revenue Potential Over Time

Statista projected Indonesia's total e-commerce revenue in 2019 to reach US$18.8 billion, a 56% increase from US$12 billion in the previous period. The segment projected to experience the highest growth was the toys, hobbies, and DIY market, increasing by 66.93% from US$1.9 billion in 2018 to US$3.2 billion in 2019. The second-highest growth was in the food and personal care products market, increasing by 60.37% to US$3.2 billion from US$2 billion in 2018.

The fashion market recorded the second-lowest growth, but this segment had the largest revenue compared to other e-commerce markets. Projected revenue for the fashion market was US$4.8 billion. The next largest revenue was in the electronics and media market at US$4.7 billion, followed by toys, hobbies, and DIY at US$3.2 billion.

Although e-commerce revenue continued to increase in subsequent years, e-commerce growth slowed. E-commerce growth in 2020 was projected at 43.5%, with revenue of US$26.9 billion. In 2021, e-commerce growth was 30.6%, with revenue of US$35.2 billion. In 2022, e-commerce market growth was 19.7%, with revenue of US$42 billion, and in 2023 it grew by 11.9%, with revenue of US$47 billion.
