Newcastle United will play in the 2023-2024 Champions League after securing a top-four finish in the 37th week of the English Premier League 2022-2023 season. The Magpies achieved this after a 0-0 draw in their home match against Leicester City at St James' Park on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023 (early WIB).
Newcastle United sits in third place with a total of 70 points.
Meanwhile, Manchester City is confirmed as the champion of the 2022-2023 English Premier League. Man City won 1-0 against Chelsea in the same week, in a match at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, May 21st, 2023.
Man City achieved a total of 88 points at the top of the 2022-2023 English Premier League table. This total is insurmountable by their rivals, including Arsenal, who are in second place.
Previously, Arsenal led the English Premier League table for a long time in the 2022-2023 season, namely for 248 days.
Man City's championship win was essentially secured after Arsenal suffered a 0-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest in the 37th week of the English Premier League on Saturday, May 20th, 2023. After Arsenal's loss to Nottingham Forest, Man City's position at the top of the English Premier League table became unassailable by The Gunners, their closest rivals.
Arsenal is now stuck in second place with 81 points. The Gunners cannot catch up to Man City's points total as they only have one remaining match in the 2022-2023 English Premier League.
Arsenal had to concede the English Premier League title to Man City, who have retained the title and won the English Premier League trophy for the third consecutive time since the 2020-2021 season.
