Cristiano Ronaldo Overtakes Messi as Highest-Paid Footballer in 2021

Soccer is the sport that attracts the most attention from people worldwide. Several soccer players have become the world's richest athletes due to their skills and immense popularity.

Cristiano Ronaldo was named the highest-earning soccer player in 2021. According to the latest Forbes list, the Portuguese soccer star's income reached US$125 million, or approximately Rp 1.78 trillion (using an exchange rate of Rp 14,234/US$). This income comprises a salary of US$70 million and endorsements worth US$55 million.

Lionel Messi ranks second among the world's richest soccer athletes, with earnings of US$110 million, or Rp 1.56 trillion. Following him are Neymar Jr. with earnings of US$95 million, or Rp 1.35 trillion, and Kylian Mbappé with US$43 million, or Rp 612 billion.

Mohamed Salah's income is recorded at US$41 million, or Rp 583 billion. Robert Lewandowski and Andrés Iniesta each earned US$35 million, or Rp 498 billion.

Next is Paul Pogba, with earnings of US$34 million, or Rp 493.9 billion. Meanwhile, Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard earned US$32 million (Rp 455.5 billion) and US$29 million (Rp 412.7 billion), respectively.
