Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is currently experiencing a goal drought. The Norwegian player has not scored in his last two Premier League matches of the 2023-2024 season.
Haaland had previously scored a significant number of goals at the start of the Premier League season.
The 23-year-old striker has gone two games without a goal, against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal. Both matches resulted in losses for Man City.
As a result, Pep Guardiola's team has slipped to third place in the league table with 18 points from eight matches. This is two points behind Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, who are currently first and second respectively.
Despite this, Haaland remains the Premier League top scorer after eight weeks of the season. According to data on the Premier League website, the former Borussia Dortmund player has scored eight goals in eight matches for The Citizens in the Premier League this season.
Below Haaland, Alexander Isak (Newcastle United) and Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur) are in second and third place, both having scored six goals.
In fourth to sixth place in the Premier League top scorer rankings are three players who have each scored five goals this season: Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United), Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton Wanderers), and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool).
Mohamed Salah has been the most impressive climber this season. The Egyptian winger has scored five goals in eight games for Liverpool. This includes two goals he scored in Liverpool's draw against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday evening WIB (8/10/2023).
This achievement has quietly propelled Mo Salah into contention for the Premier League top scorer title. With his performance, the man nicknamed "The Pharaoh" has the potential to challenge Haaland for the Premier League Golden Boot.
Furthermore, in seventh to twelfth place in the latest Premier League top scorer list, there are six players who have each scored four goals.
