The latest FIFA World Ranking shows that France occupies the top position in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) men's rankings as of September 21, 2023. Les Bleus earned a total of 1,840.76 points, the highest among other national teams in the region.
France successfully displaced Belgium from the top spot in the FIFA UEFA rankings in December 2022 after becoming the runner-up in the 2022 World Cup. France has held the top position in the European FIFA rankings ever since.
Furthermore, the French national team firmly holds the top spot in Group B of the Euro 2024 Qualifiers with a perfect 15 points. The "Les Bleus" are six points ahead of the Netherlands and Greece.
Despite this, Les Bleus experienced a 2.78-point reduction in their FIFA ranking last month. This is due to the French national team's 1-2 loss to Germany in a friendly match on September 13, 2023.
The top eight positions in the European FIFA rankings are dominated by the top 10 teams in the world rankings.
In second place is England, with a total of 1,794.34 points. Belgium is in third place with 1,792.64 points.
Following them, Croatia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, and Spain occupy positions four through eight in the European FIFA rankings, respectively.
In ninth place is Switzerland, with a total of 1,654.11 points. La Nati also tops Group I of the Euro 2024 Qualifiers with 14 points.
Meanwhile, in tenth place is Germany with 1,637.9 points. Der Panzer suffered a heavy 1-4 defeat against Japan in a friendly match on September 10, 2023.
However, Germany achieved a 2-1 victory over France in a friendly match two days later. This resulted in Germany gaining an additional 1.58 points in the latest FIFA rankings.
