Alex Rins Wins 2022 Australian MotoGP, Marquez Finishes Second

Alex Rins won the 2022 Australian MotoGP at Phillip Island Circuit on Sunday (16/10). The Suzuki Ecstar rider crossed the finish line first with a time of 40 minutes 50.6540 seconds.

This achievement earned Rins an additional 25 points, bringing his total to 137 points. This was Rins' first win in the 2022 MotoGP World Championship.

Marc Marquez finished second, 0.186 seconds behind Rins. The Repsol Honda Team rider gained 20 points.

As a result of the Australian MotoGP 2022, Marquez became the fourth rider to reach 100 podium finishes in history. He follows in the footsteps of three MotoGP legends: Valentino Rossi (199 podiums), Jorge Lorenzo (114), and Dani Pedrosa (112).

Francesco Bagnaia finished third, 0.224 seconds behind Rins, earning an additional 16 points.

Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo, the MotoGP world champion from last season, had bad luck at the Phillip Island Circuit. El Diablo crashed and was unable to continue the race on lap 11.
