Indonesia Wins Two Medals, Ranks Third in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Badminton

The Indonesian badminton team brought home two medals and ranked third in the badminton branch at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The women's doubles team of Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu won a gold medal. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting won a bronze medal in the men's singles.

The women's doubles pair, Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu, defeated the Chinese representatives, Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan, in just two rounds. Indonesia won with a score of 21-19 in the first round, and then 21-15 in the second. As a result, Greysia and Apriyani made history as the first Indonesian women's doubles team to win a gold medal at the Olympics.

Meanwhile, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting triumphed over his opponent from Guatemala, Kevin Cordon. He scored 21-11 and 21-13 in 38 minutes.

Greysia/Apriyani's and Anthony's achievements add to Indonesia's long list of medals from badminton. Badminton athletes have frequently contributed medals since the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, except for the 2012 London Olympics.

In the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Indonesia won five medals. Badminton contributed one gold and one bronze. Weightlifting athletes contributed one silver and two bronze medals.
