Indonesia's men's volleyball team won the second leg of the 2023 SEA V League after a 3-2 victory over Thailand in the final match at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex, Santa Rosa, Laguna, Philippines on Sunday (30/7/2023).
Indonesia's 3-2 win over Thailand was achieved with scores of 25-27, 20-25, 25-21, 25-21, 15-9. Despite falling behind 0-2, Fahri Septiawan and his teammates rallied to win the remaining three sets.
Previously, in the first match on Friday (28/7/2023), Indonesia defeated Vietnam 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-14, 25-23).
Then, Indonesia secured another victory in the second match against the host country, the Philippines, on Saturday (29/7/2023), winning 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-20).
Indonesia collected eight points in the final standings of the second leg of the 2023 SEA V League. These points were earned from a 3-1 win over Vietnam and a 3-0 win over the Philippines (three points each), and a close 3-2 victory over Thailand (two points).
This eight-point total put Indonesia far ahead of the other countries, whose scores were significantly lower. Vietnam, for example, recorded two wins and one loss.
Specifically, Vietnam earned four points from two wins, both close 3-2 victories against Thailand and the Philippines.
Thailand finished third, managing only one win – a 3-2 victory over the Philippines. They lost 2-3 to both Vietnam and Indonesia.
The host country, the Philippines, finished last with three losses.
The 2023 SEA V League included only four countries: the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The first leg of the SEA V League was held in Sentul, Bogor, Indonesia from July 21-23, 2023. The second leg was held in Santa Rosa, Laguna, Philippines from July 28-30, 2023.
Indonesia won the first leg and has now also won the second leg.
