The competition for the Golden Boot, the award for the top goalscorer in the 2023-2024 English Premier League, is intensifying. After seven weeks, Erling Haaland still holds the top spot. Son Heung-Min is close behind in second place.
According to Premier League statistics, Haaland has scored eight goals. Unfortunately, the Manchester City striker failed to score in the seventh week of the Premier League this season.
Man City suffered a 1-2 defeat at Wolves' Molineux Stadium on Saturday, September 30th, 2023. Ruben Dias scored an own goal in the 13th minute, and Julian Alvarez equalized in the 58th minute. However, Wolves regained the lead through Hwang Hee-chan's goal in the 66th minute.
Meanwhile, Son Heung-Min is only two goals behind Haaland, with a total of six goals. The South Korean striker added a goal for Tottenham Hotspur in the 36th minute of their match against Liverpool.
Tottenham's 2-1 victory over Liverpool was also thanks to Joel Matip's own goal in the 90+6th minute.
In third place is Jarrod Bowen with five goals after seven weeks. The English striker scored one goal for West Ham (24') along with Tomas Soucek (37'), giving The Hammers a 2-0 lead over Sheffield United.
Several other players follow the top three with four goals each: Odsonne Edouard, Evan Ferguson, Hwang Hee-Chan, and Alexander Isak.
