Bali, Indonesia's Province with the Most 5-Star Hotels in 2024

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), there were 4,584 star-rated hotels in Indonesia in 2024.

296 hotels, or 6.5%, were 5-star hotels.

In 2024, 5-star hotels were only found in 21 Indonesian provinces. Bali had the most 5-star hotels, with 123 units, almost half of the national total.

Here are the top 10 provinces with the most 5-star hotels in Indonesia in 2024:

1. Bali: 123 hotels
2. DKI Jakarta: 37 hotels
3. East Java: 26 hotels
4. West Java: 20 hotels
5. Central Java: 14 hotels
6. Yogyakarta Special Region: 14 hotels
7. West Nusa Tenggara: 14 hotels
8. Riau Islands: 13 hotels
9. North Sumatra: 7 hotels
10. East Nusa Tenggara: 7 hotels

On the other hand, 17 provinces did not have any 5-star hotels.

These provinces without 5-star hotels are Bengkulu, Lampung, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Gorontalo, West Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, West Papua, Southwest Papua, South Papua, Central Papua, and Highland Papua.

"Looking at the distribution in each province, both star-rated hotels and other accommodation services still show uneven distribution," wrote the BPS in its report, *Statistics of Hotels and Other Accommodation in Indonesia 2024*.

"A more even distribution of star-rated hotels needs to be pursued. This is also in line with the development of priority tourist destinations that are diverse and not only focused on Java and Bali," it continued.
