The General Election Commission (KPU) has finalized the list of permanent candidates (DCT) for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in the 2024 General Election.
"We have finalized the DCT today, totaling 9,917 candidates. This includes 18 participating political parties and is spread across 84 electoral districts (dapil)," said KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari in a press conference on his official YouTube channel on Friday (3/11/2023).
Hasyim explained that initially, 9,919 prospective legislative candidates (caleg) registered and were included in the provisional candidate list (DCS).
The number then changed to 9,918 after receiving public feedback and input.
From that number, the KPU conducted a re-verification, resulting in the final figure of 9,917 candidates.
"Meaning, it decreased by one person or one name. After verification, 9,918 met the requirements to be included in the DCT, and the DCT we finalized today is 9,917," said Hasyim.
Meanwhile, Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) Number 1 of 2022 concerning Amendments to Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections stipulates that the number of DPR seats in the 2024 legislative election (Pileg) is 580.
Citing Antara, 11 political parties met the quota of 580 candidates: PKB, Gerindra, PDIP, Golkar, Nasdem, Partai Buruh, PKS, PAN, Demokrat, PSI, and PPP.
