Social media analytics firm Drone Emprit released its analysis of Twitter/X user sentiment towards presidential candidates during the fifth 2024 Presidential Debate on Sunday (February 4, 2024).
Drone Emprit collected and analyzed data from 7 PM to 10 PM WIB, coinciding with the debate.
Presidential candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto, received the highest percentage of negative sentiment on Twitter, at 48%. Positive sentiment towards Prabowo was 43%, and neutral sentiment was 9%.
According to Drone Emprit's analysis, Prabowo's high negative sentiment stemmed from criticism for consistently agreeing with Anies.
The Defense Minister (2019-2024) was also criticized for using the phrase "slow-witted" and being deemed worse than Sambo. Furthermore, Prabowo was criticized regarding programs for free food and milk, the increase in the number of medical faculties, and handling stunting through free meals.
On the other hand, Prabowo received positive sentiment for his plans to build 300 medical faculties in Indonesia, his ideas for modern hospitals, and his proposed national transformation strategy.
This positive sentiment was also attributed to his eventual agreement with Anies and Ganjar, his perceived understanding of domestic and international conditions, and his improved performance compared to the previous two debates.
So, what about the Twitter sentiment towards the other two presidential candidates?
Presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo, received the second-highest percentage of negative sentiment at 14%. His positive sentiment was 72%, and neutral sentiment was 14%.
Meanwhile, presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan, received the lowest percentage of negative sentiment among the two candidates, at only 6%. His positive sentiment was the highest at 86%, and neutral sentiment was 8%.
The fifth and final 2024 Presidential Debate covered social welfare, culture, education, information technology, health, employment, human resources, and inclusion.
