The Chairperson of the General Election Commission (KPU), Hasyim Asy'ari, has announced the wages for the Voting Precinct Executive Committee (KPPS) for the 2024 General Election.
The KPPS Chairperson will receive a wage of Rp1.2 million, while members will receive Rp1.1 million.
This amount is approximately double that of the 2019 General Election. At that time, the KPPS Chairperson's wage was Rp550,000 and members received Rp500,000.
The KPPS officers will work for one month, from January 25 to February 25, 2024.
"We proposed to the Ministry of Finance an increase in honorariums in line with the workload," said Hasyim in his statement, as reported by *Katadata*, Thursday (21/12/2023).
As reported on the KPU website, the government has also prepared work accident compensation for *ad hoc* election officials in 2024, including KPPS, with the following details:
* Death: Rp36 million per person
* Permanent disability: Rp30.8 million per person
* Serious injury: Rp16.5 million per person
* Moderate injury: Rp8.25 million per person
* Funeral assistance: Rp10 million per person
Referring to PKPU Number 8 of 2022, KPPS members have the following duties:
1. Announce the Permanent Voter List at the polling station;
2. Submit the Permanent Voter List to the attending election participant witnesses and the Polling Station Supervisor. If an election participant does not have witnesses, the Permanent Voter List is submitted to the election participant;
3. Conduct voting and vote counting at the polling station;
4. Create minutes and certificates of the voting and vote counting results and are required to submit them to election participant witnesses, Polling Station Supervisors, Village/Sub-district Election Committees (PPS), and District/City Election Committees (PPK) through the PPS;
5. Carry out other duties assigned by the KPU, Provincial KPU, District/City KPU, PPK, and PPS in accordance with applicable laws and regulations;
6. Send notification letters to Voters according to the Permanent Voter List to exercise their right to vote at the polling station; and
7. Carry out other duties in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
