Ganjar Pranowo Viewed as the Figure Most Concerned with Education Issues, According to This Survey

Based on a survey by the Kurious-Katadata Insight Center (KIC), Ganjar Pranowo is considered the political figure who shows the most concern for the equity and quality improvement of education. The former Governor of Central Java received 39.1% of the total respondent votes.

His work programs include waiving school fees for all state senior high school students in Central Java since 2020. He also built 18 free boarding schools, as reported by *Detik.com*.

The Central Java Provincial Government also disbursed Rp769 billion in Operational Assistance for schools in 2022.

The achievement of this prospective presidential candidate (bacapres) nominated by the PDI-P surpasses other bacapres, such as Anies Baswedan in second place with 29.3% and Prabowo Subianto in fourth place with 24.9% of respondent votes.

Meanwhile, the third-ranked political figure considered most concerned with education issues is the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, who received 25.5% of the respondent votes.

Next is the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, chosen by 19.9% of respondents. Followed by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir (18.8%), and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD (15.9%).

Respondents who chose the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, the General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, and the General Chairperson of the PKB, Muhaimin Iskandar, had lower proportions, as shown in the graph.

The Kurious-KIC survey involved 933 respondents spread across various regions in Indonesia, with 51.2% female respondents and 48.8% male respondents.

More than half of the respondents were from Java Island excluding Jakarta (62.1%), followed by respondents from DKI Jakarta (15%) and Sumatra Island (13.3%). Meanwhile, the proportion of respondents from Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Bali-Nusa, and Maluku-Papua ranged from 0.2-3.5%.

Most respondents were from the 25-34 age group (36.3%), followed by the 35-44 age group (28.9%) and the 45-54 age group (16.9%).

Data collection was conducted from August 22-29, 2023, using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method, with a margin of error of approximately 3.2% and a 95% confidence level.
