Most People Are Unsure the New DPR is Free from Corruption

A Kompas Research and Development survey shows that 74% of respondents are not confident that newly inaugurated members of the 2019-2024 House of Representatives (DPR) are free from corruption. Meanwhile, only 19.3% of respondents are confident that the new DPR members are not involved in corruption. 6.7% of respondents did not answer. This survey was conducted from September 25-27, 2019.

The survey involved 419 respondents aged 17 and above. The survey's confidence level is 95%, with a margin of error of 4.8%. For information, incumbents dominate the 2019-2024 DPR by 56%, according to the Indonesian Parliament Watchdog Community Forum (Formappi). Based on data from Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), 23 members of the 2014-2019 DPR were involved in corruption.

Compared to the Kompas Research and Development survey conducted from March 26-28, 2014, respondent confidence in the new DPR period is higher at 26.4%. Meanwhile, the percentage of those not confident that the new DPR period is free from corruption is lower, at 68.1%.
