The public highlighted the performance of presidential candidates Anies Baswedan, Prabowo Subianto, and Ganjar Pranowo in the fifth and final presidential debate on Sunday (4/2/2024). This assessment is reflected in the latest Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) survey.
Each candidate received an average score of 7 from respondents. This assessment is based on the responses of 68.7% of respondents who watched the debate.
The public assessed the three candidates' abilities based on indicators such as answering questions fluently and clearly, mastering the issues, and their on-stage appearance. This appearance included clothing, demeanor, and expressions.
The survey results show that Anies Baswedan received a score of 7.5 out of 10 for answering questions, 7.4 for mastering the issues, and 7.9 for his on-stage appearance. Anies' average score in the fifth presidential debate was 7.6, the highest among the three candidates.
Compared to the first and third debates, respondents assessed Anies' performance as improved. Previously, the former Governor of DKI Jakarta had an average score of 7.2 in the first debate and 7.5 in the third.
Ganjar Pranowo received a score of 7.3 for answering questions, 7.4 for mastering the issues, and 7.4 for his on-stage appearance. The public gave Ganjar an average score of 7.3 in the fifth presidential debate.
However, Ganjar's average score in the final presidential debate was slightly lower than the 7.5 he received in the third debate. On the other hand, the former Governor of Central Java received a better assessment than his score in the first debate, which was 7.
Respondents gave Prabowo Subianto a score of 7 for answering questions, 7 for mastering the issues, and 7.4 for his on-stage appearance. Prabowo's average score in the fifth presidential debate was 7.1, the lowest among the other two candidates.
However, the public assessed Prabowo's performance as improved in the final debate. Previously, the Minister of Defence (2019-2024) received an average score of 6.6 in the first debate and 7 in the third.
The fifth presidential debate, the final one in the series, covered the themes of social welfare, culture, education, information technology, health, employment, human resources, and inclusion.
The Litbang Kompas survey interviewed a total of 1,002 respondents from across Indonesia during the five presidential debates. The sample was randomly selected from Litbang Kompas panel respondents, in proportion to the population of each province.
This survey has a 95% confidence level, with an average margin of error of approximately 6.93% for each debate under simple random sampling conditions.
