Supreme Court Justice Again Entangled in Bribery Case: How Many Law Enforcement Officials Are Involved in Corruption Cases?

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Supreme Court Justice Sudrajat Dimyati (SD) as a suspect in an alleged bribery case related to case handling at the Supreme Court (MA). The naming of the Supreme Court Justice as a suspect is related to the Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) sting operation conducted in Semarang and Jakarta on Wednesday (21/9/2022).

The naming of Supreme Court Justice SD will add to the long list of law enforcement officials implicated in corruption cases. Law enforcement officials, who should be upholding the law, are instead committing criminal acts of corruption to enrich themselves or their groups.

The highest legal institution, which should be a place for the public to seek justice, has become a business transaction for those with power and money.

According to KPK data, there are 34 corruptors who are law enforcement officials implicated in corruption cases. The details are: 21 corruptors holding the position of judge, 10 corruptors holding the position of prosecutor, and 3 from the police.

Furthermore, 13 corruptors handled by the KPK are lawyers.

From 2004-2022, 1,422 people have been implicated in corruption cases by the anti-corruption agency. Among them, 310 were elected officials, both members of the DPR (House of Representatives) and DPRD (Regional People's Representative Council). There were 154 people holding the position of mayor/regent, and 260 were government officials from eselon I/II/III.
