Presidential candidates Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar are firmly running in the 2024 Presidential Election with the support of three parties: PKB, NasDem, and PKS.
Before PKB joined and the prospective candidate pair declared their candidacy, the Democratic Party was actually part of the coalition. The Democratic Party's General Chairperson, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), was reportedly promised the position of prospective vice presidential candidate (bacawapres) by Anies Baswedan.
AHY's failure to become Anies's bacawapres caused the Democratic Party to withdraw from the coalition. So, how strong was the political power of Anies and Cak Imin's (the bacawapres's nickname) new coalition in the 2019 General Election?
Based on data from the General Election Commission (KPU) compiled by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the total number of valid votes for political parties in the 2019 General Election reached 139.97 million.
PKB was the strongest party in the coalition, obtaining 13.57 million votes, or 9.69% of the national valid votes.
This was followed by NasDem with 12.66 million votes (9.05%), and then PKS with 11.49 million votes (8.21%).

In terms of seats in the House of Representatives (DPR), NasDem obtained the most, with 59 out of 575 seats (10.26%).
Closely behind NasDem was PKB with 58 seats (10.8% of the total DPR seats). PKS followed with 49 seats (8.52%).
Combined, the three parties' proportion of votes reached 26.95%, while their proportion of DPR seats amounted to 29.58%.
This means that the Anies-Cak Imin coalition has surpassed the presidential threshold (PT) stipulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections.
According to Kompas.com, Article 222 of the law states that a candidate pair is nominated by a political party or a coalition of political parties participating in the election that meets the requirements of obtaining at least 20% of the DPR seats or 25% of the national valid votes in the previous DPR election.
Here's a breakdown of the three parties supporting Anies's vote and DPR seat acquisition:
