Throughout the second year of the Covid-19 pandemic, corruption cases in Indonesia were most frequently perpetrated by members of the DPR/DPRD (House of Representatives/Regional Representatives Council) and the private sector.

According to data from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), throughout 2021 there were 30 corruption suspects from among members of the DPR/DPRD, and 30 suspects from the private sector.

There were also 19 corruption suspects who served as mayors/regents and their deputies, and 16 suspects from echelon I, II, and III officials.

Governors, corporations, police officers, and lawyers each accounted for one corruption suspect. A further 28 suspects came from other professions.

In total, there were 127 corruption suspects in Indonesia throughout 2021.

Based on the type of case, the majority of corruption cases involved bribery, totaling 51 cases.

This was followed by corruption in procurement of goods/services with 47 cases, money laundering (TPPU) with 6 cases, corruption in licensing with 2 cases, and obstruction of the KPK process with 1 case.
