Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) released the results of a survey on the electability of gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidates in the 2024 North Sumatra Regional Elections.

Candidate pair number 1, Bobby Nasution-Surya, leads with an electability rating of 44.9%.

Candidate pair number 2, Edy Rahmayadi-Hasan Basri Sagala, received support from 28% of respondents.

However, 27.1% are undecided voters or respondents who have not yet decided on their choice.

"This electability rate cannot be separated from the popularity and likeability of the gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidates," said the Kompas Litbang team in their report on Wednesday (6/11/2024).

Kompas Litbang found that the pair of former Medan Mayor (2021-2024) Bobby Nasution and former Asahan Regent (2021-2024) Surya achieved a popularity rating of 79.2% among North Sumatra residents.

Meanwhile, the popularity of former North Sumatra Governor (2018-2023) Edy Rahmayadi and the Expert Staff of the Minister of Religion, Hasan Basri, stands at 70.5%.

"The remaining two weeks of the campaign period are a crucial moment for each candidate pair to strengthen their support base and mobilize voter support," said the Kompas Litbang team.

This survey involved 800 respondents randomly selected using a stratified systematic sampling method in North Sumatra province.

Data collection was conducted from October 22-28, 2024, through face-to-face interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 3.46% with a 95% confidence level, under conditions of simple random sampling.
