The General Election Commission (KPU) has announced the salaries for the Voting Precinct Executive Committee (KPPS) in the 2024 Regional Elections (Pilkada). However, the amount is lower than the salaries of KPPS officers in the February general election.
The Head of the Human Resources, Organization, Education and Training, and Research and Development Division of the KPU, Parsadaan Harahap, explained that the difference in salary is due to the lighter workload for KPPS in the Pilkada compared to the general election. "We base this on a letter from the Minister of Finance regarding the stages of the general election and the election. This is considering that there are fewer ballot boxes," said Parsadaan, as reported by *Katadata*, Tuesday (17/9/2024).
In the 2024 general election, KPPS officers were tasked with counting 5 ballot boxes within 24 hours. These included ballot boxes for the presidential election, legislative election (DPR), provincial DPRD, district/city DPRD, and DPD.
Meanwhile, in the 2024 Pilkada, KPPS will only handle 2 ballot boxes: the gubernatorial/vice gubernatorial election, and the mayoral/vice mayoral or regency/vice regency election.
Therefore, the KPPS chairperson in the 2024 Pilkada will receive a salary of Rp900,000, and members will receive Rp850,000. This is a decrease from the KPPS salaries in the general election, which reached Rp1.2 million for the chairperson and Rp1.1 million for members.
Referring to the Ministry of Finance Letter Number S-647/MK.02/2022, the government has also prepared work compensation for *ad hoc* Pilkada 2024 officers, including KPPS, with the following details:
* Death: Rp36 million per person
* Permanent disability: Rp30.8 million per person
* Serious injury: Rp16.5 million per person
* Moderate injury: Rp8.25 million per person
* Funeral assistance: Rp10 million per person
The number of KPPS members needed in the 2024 Pilkada reaches 3,450,623 people, who will serve in 435,809 polling stations (TPS).
