Results from a survey conducted by Indikator Politik Indonesia show that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) remains the most trusted institution among Indonesians, with a 94.6% trust rating.
The breakdown shows that 21.2% of respondents said they strongly trust the TNI, while 73.5% said they trust the institution.
Second is the President, with a 92.8% trust rating. This breaks down to 19.4% strongly trusting the President and 73.4% trusting the President.
Third is the Attorney General's Office at 80.6%, with 7.9% strongly trusting and 72.7% trusting the institution.
The Courts rank fourth with 77.8% trust. This is comprised of 8.4% strongly trusting and 69.4% trusting the Courts.
The Indonesian National Police (Polri) also scored well, achieving 73.2% trust, with 9.3% strongly trusting and 63.9% trusting the institution.
The least trusted institution is political parties, with only 61.8% trust. This is broken down into 2.8% strongly trusting and 59% trusting political parties.
Second least trusted is the House of Representatives (DPR), with a 63.4% trust rating. This comprises 4.7% strongly trusting and 58.7% trusting the DPR.
"The level of trust in institutions in general is relatively stable or increasing, except for the DPR, which shows a downward trend," wrote Indikator Politik in its report published on Sunday (April 30, 2023).
This survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,220 respondents aged 17 years or older, or who were married, between April 11-17, 2023.
Sample selection used a multistage random sampling method with a margin of error of approximately 2.9% and a 95% confidence level.
