Chronology of the Alleged Eddy Bribery Case
The alleged corruption case involving Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Eddy Hiariej began with a report filed by the Chairman of Indonesia Police Watch (IPW), Sugeng Teguh Santoso, on March 14, 2023.
As reported by Kompas.id, Eddy allegedly received gratification related to legal consultation and a request for the ratification of the legal status submitted by the President Director of PT Citra Lampia Mandiri (PT CLM), with the initials HH.
Eddy was also reported for allegedly requesting that two of his personal assistants, with the initials YAR and YAM, be appointed as commissioners of PT CLM.
The report stated that there was a flow of gratification funds of approximately Rp7 billion received by these two individuals.
Eddy was then questioned by the KPK as a witness on March 20 and July 28, 2023. However, he denied receiving any gratification.
"We are clarifying with the KPK regarding the IPW's report, which is tendentious and points towards defamation," said Eddy, as quoted by Kompas.com on Monday (20/3/2023).
Subsequently, the KPK conducted a case hearing or exposé and found sufficient evidence in October 2023. Based on this evidence, the KPK upgraded the report on the alleged receipt of gratification by the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights to an investigation on Monday (6/11/2023).
Finally, the KPK announced Eddy as a suspect on Thursday (9/11/2023), after finding criminal elements during the investigation. Eddy is charged with alleged bribery and gratification.
