Head of Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Owns Private Plane, Now a Corruption Suspect

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named the Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Air Marshal Henri Alfiandi, as a suspect in an alleged bribery case involving the procurement of victim detection equipment for collapsed buildings.

The KPK suspects Henri received bribes over two years. Furthermore, the KPK also implicated Henri's subordinate, the Head of Administrative Staff (Koorsmin) of Basarnas, Lieutenant Colonel Adm Afri Budi Cahyanto.

“It is suspected that HA (Henri), together with and through ABC (Afri), received bribes totaling approximately Rp88.3 billion from various winning vendors for several projects at Basarnas from 2021 to 2023,” said KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata, as quoted by Tempo.co on Wednesday (26/7/2023).

According to his State Officials Wealth Report (LHKPN), Henri possessed assets worth Rp10.97 billion at the end of 2022.

Henri is recorded as owning 5 plots of land and buildings spread across Pekanbaru and Kampar. The value of his immovable assets reaches Rp4.82 billion.

He is also recorded as owning 4 units of transportation, "self-acquired," with a total value of Rp1.04 billion. The details are as follows:

* A 2012 Nissan Grand Livina worth Rp60 million;
* A 2019 Fin Komodo IV off-road vehicle worth Rp60 million;
* A 2017 Honda CRV worth Rp275 million; and
* A 2019 Zenith 750 STOL aircraft worth Rp650 million.

Henri further possesses other movable assets totaling Rp452.6 million, cash or cash equivalents worth Rp4.05 billion, and other assets worth Rp600 million, without any securities or debts.

Thus, his total assets amounted to Rp10,973,754,000 or Rp10.97 billion last year.
