Not North Sumatra, This is the Province with the Highest Per Capita GRDP in Sumatra

Kepulauan Riau is the province with the highest Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in Sumatra.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the GRDP per capita at current prices in Kepulauan Riau was Rp130.13 million in 2021. This means the residents' income in the province was Rp130.13 million per year. This figure is double the national per capita income, which was only Rp62.24 million per year.

Riau province had the next highest income, at Rp129.85 million per year, followed by Jambi province at Rp65.19 million per year. The income of residents in these three Sumatran provinces is above the national average.

Meanwhile, the province with the lowest GRDP per capita in Sumatra is Aceh. The income of residents in this province, known as the "Veranda of Mecca," was only Rp34.68 million per year. This is only 26.65% of the income of Kepulauan Riau residents and only 55.72% of the national average income.

Following Aceh is Bengkulu, with a per capita income of Rp39.4 million per year. This is only one-third of the income of Kepulauan Riau residents and only 63% of the national average income.
