Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at constant prices (ADHK) in the manufacturing industry reached Rp 564.87 trillion in Q2 2021. This figure represents a 6.58% growth compared to Q2 2020 (year-on-year/yoy).
This positive growth is the first in the last year. Previously, the manufacturing industry experienced contraction since Q2 2020.
By sub-industry, the transportation equipment industry recorded the highest growth at 45.7% (yoy). Meanwhile, the wood, wood products, cork, and bamboo, rattan, and similar weaving industries experienced the deepest contraction, at 6.07% (yoy).
Compared to Q1 2021 (quarter-to-quarter/q-to-q), the manufacturing industry also grew by 1.07%. The non-metallic mineral products sub-industry recorded the highest growth, at 6.24% (q-to-q). Meanwhile, the tobacco processing sub-industry experienced the deepest contraction at 9.84% (q-to-q).
Cumulatively, the manufacturing industry recorded 2.46% growth in the first half of 2021 (c-to-c). The basic metal sub-industry recorded the highest growth, at 12.66% (c-to-c). Meanwhile, the textile and garment sub-industry recorded negative growth of 9.11% (c-to-c).
The GDP at current prices (ADHB) for the manufacturing industry reached Rp 805.62 trillion in Q2 2021. Thus, the manufacturing industry contributed 19.29% to the national GDP, which totaled Rp 4,175.84 trillion.
The national economy grew by 7.07% (yoy) in April-June 2021. The Indonesian economy also grew by 3.31% in this period compared to January-March 2021 (q-to-q).
