Top 10 Indonesian Provinces with the Largest Mining Regional Gross Domestic Product (GRDP) in 2021

The national mining and quarrying sector's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reached Rp1.52 quadrillion in 2021. This value constitutes 8.98% of the total national economy, which reached Rp16.97 quadrillion.

The mining sector's GDP recorded a growth of 4% in 2021 compared to the previous year. East Kalimantan is the province with the largest regional gross domestic product (RGDP) from the mining and quarrying sector in Indonesia.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), East Kalimantan's mining sector RGDP reached Rp313.61 trillion in 2021. This is the largest compared to the mining sector RGDP of the other 33 provinces. This mining sector RGDP contributed 45.05% to the province's economy.

The next provinces with the largest mining RGDP are Riau at Rp167.17 trillion, followed by South Sumatra at Rp97.93 trillion, East Java at Rp96.6 trillion, and Papua at Rp86.69 trillion.

Following these are South Kalimantan with a mining and quarrying RGDP of Rp37.31 trillion; Central Java at Rp36.36 trillion; Central Sulawesi at Rp34.93 trillion; and Riau Islands and Jambi at Rp34.7 trillion and Rp32.93 trillion respectively.
