Jakarta's PDRB was the largest in Indonesia in 2021.

Indonesia's economic structure is spatially dominated by provinces on Java Island. Five of these are among the top 10 provinces with the largest Regional Gross Domestic Product (RGDP) in 2021.

Three provinces are from Sumatra Island, and one each from Kalimantan and Sulawesi are also in the top 10.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), six provinces on Java Island contributed 57.89% to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at current prices (ADHB), which reached Rp 16.97 quadrillion in 2021. Jakarta is the province with the largest RGDP in Indonesia, as shown in the graph.

The Javanese economy grew by 3.66%, in line with national economic growth of 3.69% last year. The Sumatran economy grew by 3.18%, Kalimantan by 3.18%, Sulawesi by 5.67%, Maluku and Papua by 10.09%, and Bali and Nusa Tenggara by only 0.07%.

The Sumatran economy contributed 21.7% to the national GDP last year. Meanwhile, Kalimantan contributed 8.25%, Sulawesi 6.89%, Bali and Nusa Tenggara 2.78%, and Maluku and Papua 2.49%.
