Household consumption remains the mainstay of national economic growth. Based on data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics, household consumption (RT) in 2018 reached Rp 8,269.8 trillion, or 55.7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at current prices of Rp 14,837.4 trillion. Meanwhile, at constant 2010 prices, it reached Rp 5,651.2 trillion, representing more than half of the GDP valued at Rp 10,425.3 trillion.
The second largest expenditure component was gross fixed capital formation (PMTB) at Rp 4,790.6 trillion, or 32.3% of total GDP, followed by exports of goods and services at Rp 3,110.8 trillion, or 20.97% of GDP.
For information, household consumption expenditure in Q4 2018 grew by 5.08% compared to Q4 2017 (YoY), while compared to the previous quarter it only grew by 0.09% (Q to Q), and cumulatively throughout 2018 it grew by 5.05%.
