Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has shown an upward trend over the last two decades. Only in 2020 did Indonesia's GDP decline, coinciding with the global COVID-19 pandemic, which also affected Indonesia.
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the national GDP at current prices reached Rp 16.97 quadrillion, equivalent to US$ 1.19 trillion (using an exchange rate of Rp 14,269 per US$), in 2021. This figure is higher than the previous year's Rp 15.4 quadrillion.

Meanwhile, based on constant 2010 prices, the Indonesian economy grew by 3.69% in 2021. This achievement is better than the previous year's contraction of 2.07%. However, this achievement is still below the growth rate before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Almost all sectors recorded growth throughout last year, except for the government administration, defense, and mandatory social security sector, which experienced a contraction of 0.33% compared to the previous year.
