The amount of currency in circulation in July 2018 decreased by 6.3% to Rp 682.2 trillion from the previous month, but grew by 10.47% compared to the same month of the previous year. Of this amount, Rp 583.1 trillion was in circulation among the public, while the remaining Rp 99.1 trillion was held by banks.
Based on its form, currency in circulation consisted of Rp 673.2 trillion in banknotes and Rp 8.96 trillion in coins. Based on denomination, the largest amount in circulation was in Rp 100,000 notes, reaching Rp 432.95 trillion, followed by Rp 50,000 notes with a value of Rp 178.17 trillion. Meanwhile, coins with denominations below Rp 100 were the smallest, reaching only Rp 711 billion.
