China, the World's Largest Aluminum Producer in 2020

According to the United States Geological Survey, global aluminum production reached 65.2 million metric tons in 2020. This represents a 3.16% increase compared to the previous year's 63.2 million metric tons.

Aluminum is a lightweight, silvery-white metal. It is widely used in household appliances, food and medicine packaging, electrical wiring, and even in the construction of aircraft.

China is the world's largest aluminum producer, with 37 million metric tons in 2020, accounting for 56.7% of global aluminum production. This dominance is driven by high domestic demand, particularly in the automotive and beverage can industries.

Russia and India follow, each producing 3.6 million metric tons. Canada and the United Arab Emirates produced 3.1 million and 2.6 million metric tons respectively.

Australia produced 1.6 million metric tons of aluminum. Bahrain and Norway produced 1.5 million and 1.4 million metric tons respectively. The United States and Iceland produced 1 million and 840,000 metric tons respectively.
