According to data from the Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN), Indonesia's nickel ore production continuously increased during the 2012-2024 period.

Concurrently, Indonesia's contribution to the global supply has also grown.

"Compared to 2012, nickel ore production has more than tripled by 2024," said the Ministry of PPN in its Roadmap for Decarbonization of Indonesia's Nickel Industry.

"Consequently, Indonesia's contribution to the global nickel ore supply also increased from 27% to 60% during the same period," it added.

Throughout 2012-2020, Indonesia's contribution to the global nickel ore supply fluctuated, with the highest contribution level at 33%.

Then, since 2021, its contribution level has risen significantly, reaching 60% by 2024, as shown in the chart.

"This trend is primarily driven by demand from the domestic primary extraction industry or smelters," said the Ministry of PPN in its report.
