According to the BWF website, the group stage of the Sudirman Cup has been underway since Sunday (May 14, 2023).
The winners on the first day were Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) 4-1 over India; South Korea 4-1 over France; Malaysia 5-0 over Australia; Japan 5-0 over England; Denmark 4-1 over Singapore; and China 5-0 over Egypt.
On the second day, Monday (May 15, 2023), the matches were won by Indonesia 5-0 over Canada; Thailand 4-1 over Germany; Chinese Taipei 5-0 over Australia; Malaysia 5-0 over India; Japan 4-1 over France; and South Korea 4-1 over England.
On the third day, Tuesday (May 16, 2023), matches were still ongoing. As of 3:30 PM WIB, only the scores of two matches were reported by the BWF. The scores obtained so far include Indonesia 4-1 over Germany and Thailand 4-1 over Canada.
Indonesia, which is in Group B, will play again on Thursday (May 18, 2023) against a formidable opponent, Thailand.
This major badminton event, held biennially, is named after Dick Sudirman, who is considered the father of Indonesian badminton. Dick Sudirman was the founder of the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) and led the organization for 22 years.
