Not "One Piece," This is Japan's Best-Selling Manga in 2024

According to Oricon, Japan's entertainment industry sales data company, Jujutsu Kaisen was the best-selling manga in Japan in 2024.

This figure beat One Piece, which came in second in its home country.

Here are the top 10 best-selling manga in Japan in 2024, based on the number of copies sold, according to the Oricon report cited by Comic Book Resource (CBR):

1. Jujutsu Kaisen: 7.61 million copies
2. One Piece: 5.25 million copies
3. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End: 4.99 million copies
4. The Apothecary Diaries: 4.72 million copies
5. Blue Lock: 3.88 million copies
6. Kaiju No. 8: 3.4 million copies
7. Kingdom: 3.23 million copies
8. Haikyu!!: 3.08 million copies
9. My Hero Academia: 2.94 million copies
10. Spy x Family: 2.66 million copies

According to CBR, despite considerable criticism regarding the ending and questionable creative decisions in the final chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen, this wasn't enough to dampen enthusiasm for the series, which was once the most popular title in Shonen Jump.

Meanwhile, One Piece remains a sales giant, although some fans were surprised by its failure to become the best-selling manga of 2024. This is considering its increased global exposure and significant developments in its long-running storyline.

"The current 'Egghead' arc, which is being adapted in the One Piece TV anime series, features some of the biggest reveals in the series so far," said CBR reporter Leo Reyna on the website, Wednesday (April 30, 2025).

"This arc gives readers a clearer picture of how the fantasy world of One Piece works and what's at stake if Monkey D. Luffy and his friends fail to uncover the legendary treasure," he said.
