The choice of online media as the main news source for Indonesians has been consistent from 2021 to 2023. However, the trend has declined in the last two years.

A recorded 89% of respondents used online media as their primary news source in 2021. This proportion decreased to 88% in 2022 and dropped significantly to 84% in 2023.

Social media occupies the second position as a news source for Indonesian citizens. The proportion of respondents choosing this source has fluctuated over the past two years, as shown in the graph above.

Similar to social media, the trend of using television as a news source in Indonesia has been fluctuating over the past two years.

On the other hand, the trend of print media usage in Indonesia has declined for two consecutive years.

“Online and social media remain the most popular news sources in Indonesia with our more urban sample, but TV and radio remain important for millions who are not online,” stated the Reuters Institute.

The Reuters Institute survey also found that 39% of Indonesian respondents admitted to believing most of the circulating news.

The five most trusted media brands in Indonesia are *Kompas, CNN, TVRI, SCTV (Liputan6)*, and *Detik.com*.

This survey was conducted on 2,012 respondents in Indonesia. The survey was conducted using an online questionnaire distributed by YouGov from the end of January to the beginning of February 2023.
