According to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), 553,000 industrial robots were installed worldwide in 2022.

This number represents a 5% year-on-year (YoY) increase.

Of the 553,000 industrial robots installed in 2022, the majority (73%) were installed in factories in Asia, followed by 15% in Europe, and 10% in America.

China was the largest market for industrial robots last year, with installations reaching 290,300 units.

Japan was second with 50,400 units installed, followed by the United States with 39,600 units, South Korea with 31,700 units, and Germany with 25,600 units. The remaining installations are shown in the accompanying graph.

IFR President Marina Bill also predicts continued growth in industrial robot installations this year.

"In 2023, the industrial robot market is expected to grow by 7%, exceeding 590,000 units worldwide," Marina said in a press release on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
