On November 11, 2016, according to Bloomberg data, the rupiah closed at Rp 13,383 per US dollar, weakening by 1.86 percent from the previous day's closing. Meanwhile, in the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (JISDOR), the rupiah exchange rate was at Rp 13,350 per US dollar, weakening by 1.77 percent from the previous day's level of Rp 13,118 per dollar.
Concerns over the protectionist policies of US President-elect Donald Trump rekindled uncertainty in the global financial markets. Currencies in emerging markets weakened, triggering a fall in stock prices on the exchanges. Fund managers withdrew from financial markets to readjust their portfolios in response to Donald Trump's victory to avoid further losses.
