Bank Mandiri's Profit Soars 66.84%, Reaching a Record High in 2021

PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk achieved a net profit of Rp 28.03 trillion in 2021, a 66.8% increase compared to the previous year.

This profit, achieved by the bank with the trading code BMRI, surpassed its pre-Covid-19 pandemic achievement in 2019 of Rp 27.48 trillion and set a new all-time record.

According to Bank Mandiri's President Director, Darmawan Junaidi, this significant performance last year aligns with the recovery of the domestic economy, supported by the government's policies in handling the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bank Mandiri's business strategy, which has actively implemented digital transformation to achieve long-term strategies and generate sustainable business growth, has boosted the company's performance.

The growth in BMRI's profit was driven by a 2.23% increase in interest income to Rp 97.75 trillion last year. Meanwhile, the interest expense of the government-owned bank decreased by 25.41% to Rp 24.69% from the previous year.

Bank Mandiri's consolidated credit grew by 8.86% to Rp 1.05 quadrillion throughout 2021. This achievement is above the industry's credit growth of 5.2%.
